Meet The Team

We are a small team who work closely together. By combining our individual talents we deliver projects to the highest possible standards.
We believe in staying small and delivering big. We are selective over the projects we work on, ensuring your project receives the full attention it deserves.
James and Richard oversee every project, with full support from Amanda, Dominic and Jody. We are a dynamic team, with a wealth of experience.
Richard Wellby joined the long-established Colin Metters practice in Bude in 1986, after working overseas for 15 years in Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has worked in the practice since and completed two post-graduate degrees at Plymouth and Bath. He is married to Jill and they have 5 children. After 35 years of living in Parson Hawkers Vicarage, they have recently moved to another hamlet in Morwenstow.
Richard is now semi-retired following an impressive and substantial career in Architecture. He has helped to shape the teams creative vision, nurturing talents and inspiring them to progress in their architectural careers.
James began his career at Metters and Wellby Architects as a young apprentice and is now a Chartered Architectural Technologist and company Director. James is driven by the challenge of designing stunning architecture that delivers on the client's brief, whilst satisfying planning obligations and building regulations. James recently won the South West regional LABC award for best conversion project for his design of the Ship House Appledore.
Amanda also started her career with Metters and Wellby 6 years ago and is currently studying for her architecture degree.
Dominic recently joined the team having recently completed his Part 1 architecture degree.
Jody is the Office Manager, and James' Fiancé. Jody drives the internal functions of the business, whilst managing marketing and administration. Jasper, pictured below, is their dog, who sometimes visits the office (much to his dismay).
All of the team have strong connections to Devon and Cornwall having grown up in the South West. We are inspired by the beauty of our home counties and determined to design and create buildings that compliment the natural surroundings.
If you have a project, we'd love to hear from you, please do contact any of the team.
